GloPoWriMo/NaPoWriMo Day 1: How To Make Homemade Tomato Sauce

Today’s prompt is to write a poem that provide the reader with instructions on how to do something or a dis-instruction poem, that tells the reader how not to do something.

Next to the pot of boiling water
bring your heart to the table.

Put whole tomatoes in
until skin start to peel.

It is in your well-being
to rid layers of hostility.

Skin after skin
chamber after chamber.

Peel and squeeze out seeds
breathe and wipe out spite.

Chop tomatoes and
set aside, ready for cooking.

Stir the vessels and
steady valves, ready for redemption.

Cook onion, carrot and garlic.
Add in pureed tomatoes.

Pump in humility, kindness and love.
Fill them in your aorta.

Simmer tomatoes for two hours.
Serve sauce with favourite dish.

Place the heart back to body.
Serve others with healed intents.

  • OK, this is brilliant. I love the duality of preparing a mean and leaving behind negative feelings.
