GloPoWriMo/NaPoWriMo Day 4: My Love For You Is The Laughing Emptiness
Today’s prompt is to write a sad poem, but one that achieves sadness through simplicity. Playing with the sonnet form may help – its very compactness can compel you to be straightforward, using plain, small words. I find sonnet difficult to write and this is my attempt after seeking help from an online tool.
My madness, you inspire me to bright.
I love the way you burn and surrender,
Invading my mind day and through the night,
Always dreaming about the bartender.
Let me compare you to a contender?
You are more clueless, helpless and creeping.
Sad frost steals the leaves of November,
And wintertime has the vile housekeeping.
You ask I love you? Let me mount the dais.
I love your rich darkness, weakness and artless.
Thinking of your great sadness fills my days.
My love for you is the laughing emptiness.
Now I must away with a wretched heart,
Remember my teen words whilst we’re apart.
