Poem: Hearts Ajar and Locked

Hearts ajar and locked, fear is what we carry.
Beyond this mountain calmly awaits our fate.
For all that was yesterday and today, we bury
hearts ajar and closed, fear is what we carry.
The fear of each other has us dressed in wary,
brains fried; we see kindness as hard to carry.
Hearts ajar and locked, fear is what we carry.
Beyond this mountain calmly awaits our fate.
